Most system-impacted people have been shaped by environments focused on survival, which requires retreat into hidden spaces outside of mainstream view. At this month's🍎 Lunch & Learn, we'll explore how survival skills learned in hidden spaces (the alleys) conflict with expectations of the real world (the street), and how the legal system punishes survival-based behavior rather than addressing root causes.

IPP is seeking community feedback on our new multi-year plan to 1) assess ALL women serving long prison sentences in Illinois and 2) provide representation to those selected. We especially encourage formerly incarcerated women and loved ones of current and formerly incarcerated women to attend, as well as advocates & community members. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP as space is limited!

2026 will be a big election year with lasting consequences, especially for our most vulnerable communities. But what does voting and democracy mean for incarcerated and other system-impacted people? Join us on May 7 for a vibrant discussion with community leaders on the meaning of democracy -- on both sides of the wall. Free and open to all!
