IPP’s Medical Release Legal Coordinator will be responsible for leading training and supporting non-IPP attorneys in the presentation of medical release cases. The Medical Release Legal Coordinator will oversee program administration, supervise non-IPP attorneys, and provide direct legal services to incarcerated people and their families. This is a one year, grant funded position. Although this position may be renewed or made permanent depending on funding, there is no guarantee of renewal. IPP hopes to fill this position quickly, with an anticipated start date in August.
Preference will be given to candidates in Illinois. IPP maintains a hybrid work environment, including working remotely and out of IPP’s office at 53 West Jackson Blvd in Chicago, Illinois. There is no minimum in-office work requirement but some meetings or events will require in-person appearance.

The Ambassador Fellowship assists formerly incarcerated people in cultivating the skills and system-knowledge needed to lead the fight for criminal legal reform. Ambassadors work to combat the dangerous one-sided narrative that influences the way the public responds to criminal legal issues. The paid, eight-month fellowship trains system-impacted people in storytelling, advocacy, and organizing to lead conversations about the harms of mass incarceration and to push for reform.
The position requires a weekly commitment of 10 hours. The first 6 months of the fellowship will involve weekly training in a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. Over the course of their fellowship, Ambassadors participate in numerous speaking engagements, sharing their story while cultivating their personal advocacy message. Ambassadors will receive a monthly stipend of $1,000 each month of the program.
This fellowship is exclusively designed for individuals who have served long term sentences within the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis between August 1st - August 18th. If you are accepted, the program will officially begin on Monday, September 16th with an in person meeting.
